Oscillating Valves

Oscillating valves generate continuous cycling of an actuator.

When compressed air is applied to port 1, the outlet ports 2 and 4 are alternately supplied with compressed air.

The valve always moves the position as soon as the cylinder has reached the end position and a back pressure is applied to the and-gate in the valve.

The speed of the operated cylinder and therefore the frequency can be adjusted by adding flow regulators to the exhaust ports 3 and 5 of the valve.

Example applications:

  • Reciprocating
  • Scraping
  • Wiping
  • Roll Polishing
  • Winding
  • Tensioning
  • Spraying
  • Raking
  • Diverting
  • Cleaning
  • Dipping

Oscillating Valve Type PFF 520 701 (datasheet)

  • Air-flow: 1.250 l/min
  • Port-size: G 1/4"
  • Pressure range: 2-10 bar

The function of an oscillating valve can also be simulated by a set of two pneumatically actuated bistable valves from the standard Hafner range. The stroke frequency can be adjusted by two uni-directional flow regulators.

This solution offers the advantage that the customer is independent on the air-flow. The P-valve that is connected to the cylinder has a separate air-supply and therefore the customer can use every size from the Hafner range (up to G 3/4" with 6.000 l/min air-flow).

1. Solution: Oscillating movement starts with pressure at port 1.

2. Solution: Oscillating movement starts with electrical signal at the solenoid valve.
